The Laurier Centre for the Study of Canada is hosting Jade Ferguson speaking on From Patriotism to Belonging: Black Soldiers and the Struggle for Recognition in Canada. This presentation examines how Black soldiers and their families in early twentieth-century Canada pursued citizenship and equality through military service during the World Wars, only to confront systemic discrimination that persisted despite their sacrifice. This is a hybrid event in person at 232 King St. N., Waterloo or on zoom.

Grammy nominated and Juno award winning rockers Crash Test Dummies are coming to Maxwell’s Concert & Events on March 11! Led by the unmistakable baritone of Brad Roberts, the band became a defining voice of Canadian alternative rock, and you can catch them live right here in Waterloo!

Juno-nominated Métis artist Red River Rambler and Celtic-fusion favourites Mighty Kin bring you an electrifying night of contemporary takes on traditional music at the Registry Theatre for the Irish Real Life Festival. Blending fiddle traditions, storytelling, and modern energy, this double bill celebrates how living cultures honour their roots while evolving in new and exciting ways.

The Downtown Kitchener BIA is bringing the heat with DTK Sunset Sessions at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts. The best part? Each concert features a surprise artist! Concerts are free, but RSVPs are required. You’re encouraged to stop by a DTK restaurant for dinner and a treat before the show! 

Waterloo Public Library in Partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University presents Imagining Sustainable Futures: Disability, Access, and Hope from 7 to 8 pm at the Eastside Branch. This talk explores disability and accessibility through the lens of sustainability, while also questioning what “sustainable” really means with Dr. Alexis Buettgen.

Indie film icon Jason Mewes is bringing his signature “Jay” energy to the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts. Best known for his decades of rebellious banter alongside Kevin Smith in the Jay and Silent Bob and Clerks movies, Mewes has now transitioned into the digital space with the Hulu Original Series, Spoilers. Part screening, part “verbal blogging” free-for-all, the show invites fans to engage in high-energy debates about the latest in pop culture—continuing Mewes’ legacy of offbeat, audience-driven entertainment. 

Jon McLean is playing live at Counterpoint Brewing at 6 pm. D&D Smoked Eats will be there from 5 to 8 with tacos and nachos, too.

Femme Folks Fest presents emme kay kennedy's OOPS!, a live comedy show at the Studio Theatre at Centre in the Square. This autobiographical solo comedy show about one queer woman’s experience discovering herself south of the border and making major late-in-the-game decisions about where to thrive next.

Cosmic Fishing Theatre is thrilled to bring back DiSCoVeR, the beloved theatre and performance series for children (ages 0-8) in Waterloo Region. Good Co. Productions presents Pick a Piper live at Fresh Ground Cafe in DTK. Pick a Piper is a Toronto-based genre-fluid live electronic project with producer/drummer Brad Weber and vocalist Sophia Alexandra. The show features energetic live drums, distinctive synths and samples, and alluring ethereal vocal melodies.

Help make Type 1 Type none at the 5th Annual BAND AGAINST DIABETES fundraiser on April 25 at THEMUSEUM. It's a family-run passion project that raises funds to advocate, educate and eradicate Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). $50 tickets gets you four amazing bands, a huge silent auction and late night snacks. All money raised will support their team's T1D walk page through Breakthrough T1D Canada. They're also seeking silent auction items and any interest in sponsorship.
