Tuesday, October 7

The Accelerator Centre has Innovate & Caffeinate: Cofounder Chemistry - How to Build (and Test) a Founding Team That Lasts with Jackie Lauer at 8 am.

Get two times the ghost with the most at The Gaslight District with a double feature of “Beetlejuice” and “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice” on the region’s largest outdoor screen. Bring your own chairs or blankets and grab something to eat from Pizzeria Motola or the Foundry Tavern. Beetlejuice.

Detective Constable Joshua Rhab is hosting Stay Safe: Fraud & Identity Theft Prevention at the Country Hills Library (KPL) for adults 50+ looking to learn how to prevent identity theft and fraud.

Builders Club is hosting Samantha Campbell and Sarah-Beth Bianchi’s Women Who Launch: Startup Social from 5 to 7 pm. It’s a celebration of women who have launched businesses in the past year with an evening of connection, speakers, and fun!

KPL has Introduction to Photography for Newcomer Seniors at the central library at 3 pm.

The Kitchener Waterloo Arts Gallery invites you to an Artist Talk by Yan Wen Chang. Chang is one of the featured artists in the group exhibition Auto-Biography: Vehicles of identity, community, and globalization. In this talk, Chang will situate her work within her larger artistic practice and will share personal links and connections that intersect with these overarching themes. 7 pm.

Mock Deer and Dana Sipos play Emmanuel United at 8 pm.

The Rabbid Fox has country music bingo at 8.

The FASS Theatre Company is putting on “Night of the Living Low-Budget Cardboard Props“ on October 9 and 10 at the Arts Lecture Hall on the UW campus. A rehearsal misstep shatters a superstition and wakes a curse inside the theatre. The building stirs to life and turns on its own show: flats creep, chandeliers fall, props sprout teeth, and a seductive couch develops a lethal appetite. With every cue, the set grows meaner and more blood thirsty. Now the cast and crew must decipher the curse and break it fast if anyone hopes to make it to opening night.

Friday, October 10

The heart of downtown Kitchener transforms into a Bavarian village at the Wilkommen Platz, complete with a Biergarten, authentic German food vendors, a local market and live music on the Circle K Main Stage. From Friday, October 10 to Sunday, October 12, raise a stein, sing along, and soak in the Gemütlichkeit.

Head to Gaukel Block in Downtown Kitchener for FARMtoberfest, a brand-new exhibit from Farm Food Care Ontario’s popular Breakfast on the Farm series. This free, family-friendly event brings the sights, sounds and stories of Ontario farms to the Gaukel Block, with live animals, big farm machines, interactive displays, giveaways and more. It’s your chance to meet local farmers, explore how food gets from field to fork, and enjoy a taste of farm life right in the heart of downtown.

Not renaming this GlizzyFest was a miss. Your City of Kitchener councillors are back with GrillFest, slinging traditional sausage on a bun, cold drinks, and cookies for $5 with proceeds going to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

Dom Paré is headling two Rusty Nail shows. First, on Friday at 7 at TWH Social.

Dumb Crush, Eternal Sky, KROKA, and Czech Hotel play the Union. Doors at 7:30, music at 8.

Saturday, October 11

We said there were two Dom Paré shows. The second is tonight at 7 pm, also at TWH Social.

The Cindy Brown Duo plays live at the Rabbid Fox starting at 7:30 pm.

The TOGETHER WE’RE BOISTEROUS comedy & variety show is back at Kitchener’s favourite brewery, TWB Brewing Co-op! Featuring the hilarious talents of: Brandon Corrigan (Sketch Comedy), Ruby Moon (Musical Comedy), Kevin Pinkoski & Ben Gorodetsky (Improv), Michelle W (Stand Up Comedy). Sliding scale tickets | $11-$33.

A collab worth prosting about., Check out the SFBC x Counterpoint Biergarten at 20 Hurst Ave. They’ll tap their German inspired Canadian collab beer releases, plus they have Big Al’s Grill serving up Oktoberfest grub, too.

Sunday, October 12

Gather around and give thanks with your punk rock family at for the 14th edition of the Long Weekend Band Crawl in Uptown Waterloo! Featuring the best of punk and alternative DIY ethos from Waterloo Region and abroad! Non-stop music featuring eighteen artists and bands across four venues.

Monday, October 13

It’s not Oktoberfest without the annual Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade! This year, the parade is back with new and old favourite floats, inflatables, and bands. Don’t forget to bring a non-perishable or cash donation to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region!
