Sick of doomscrolling? Come out and draw with Mind Club's Get Sketchy event. ​You'll get a Moleskine notebook, a pen, and a set of coloured pencils. Inside the notebook you'll find a sticker pack of exercises. You pick the prompts you like, stick them in your notebook, and fill them out as you explore the park (individually or in groups, as you prefer). 6:30 in Waterloo Park.

Hearts Open for Everyone is pleased to invite you to another community event at TriSisters Art House in St. Jacobs, presented in collaboration with Quilt of Belonging. Join members of the Queen’s Bush Settlement Mural Project Advisory Committee for "Unveiling the Legacy: The Story of the Queen's Bush Settlement" 6:30 PM to 8:00 pm.

TWB Brewing has Now That's What I Call Summer Trivia. It's music from beach anthems and road trip classics to the songs that define the season. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 on trivia day and include a 12-oz beer or non-alcoholic beverage.

AOK + In For Questioning have Studio Ghibli Trivia at 8 pm.

Thursday, July 23

Thursday is not just any old edition of the R+T Park Beer Garden. This month, they’re combining it with their first ever intern social! They're setting aside a table that’s all about co-op students and interns. It's a space to build connections, and chat about the intern experience. Thank you to the SAP interns, who will be bringing out board games for some fun and friendly play! Open to tenants and the broader tech community from 2 to 5:30 pm.

(Rescheduled from last week) TWB Brewing hosts Lavender Fizz, a 2SLGBTQIA+, Women & Non-binary Comedy Open Mic, hosted by local stand-up comic Sarah Thompson! 7 to 9 pm.

Join the Sonic Uke Ensemble, with special guests Cast Iron Potty Band, for an evening of musical mayhem, improbable harmonies, and string-powered entertainment. Having delighted audiences at countless live performances, these ukulele enthusiasts fearlessly tackle everything from vintage favourites to contemporary classics. Expect great songs, bad jokes, surprising twists, and more ukuleles than any reasonable person would think necessary. 7 pm at The Jazz Room.

The Kitchener Panthers’ will be transforming Jack Couch Park into a celebration of Bavarian culture when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at the first-ever KW Oktoberfest Game. The Panthers will hit the field wearing special “Berlin Keg Tappers” alter-ego uniforms, and fans will get their Ziggy-Zaggy on with themed entertainment, food offerings, musical acts and a variety of other experiences to capture the spirit of Oktoberfest traditions. Game time is set for 6:30p.m.

Movies in the Park at Waterloo Park features a free screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark at sunset. Bring a donation for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region!

Friday, July 24

TWB Brewing's Patio Music Series presents The Flying Dutchmen, a powerhouse acoustic duo breathing new life into classic hits. Blending folk, pop, rock, and country, they deliver your favourite songs with energy, excitement, and an unforgettable stripped-back sound. 7 pm.

Put on your stretchy pants. The Preston Food Crawl returns with 20 tasting tickets for $20, good for everything from one-ticket nibbles to three-ticket treats at spots all across Preston Towne Centre. Graze your way through gourmet bites and comfort food classics, soak up the live music, and don’t forget the pup with a participating pet food business serving up tastings for your four-legged crew too.  

Pinch Presents: Ben & Tim Improvise until the Last Audience Member Leaves. Improv comedy meets endurance performance in this one-time-only manic spectacle from the twisted minds of Canadian Comedy Award nominees Tim Mikula and Ben Gorodetsky! Sliding scale tickets ($10-$30) / 7pm doors, 7:30pm show / Waterloo Visitor Information Centre (10 Father David Bauer Dr).

Turn up the nostalgia and crank the classics at the City of Kitchener’s Wayback Festival. Friday features a Tribute to Classic Rock with performances by Born in the Eighties, the Early Elton Tribute Band, and the Only Journey Tribute Band. On Saturday, it’s Your Favourites, Live with performances from Trooper! 

Rusty Nail Comedy has a special $15 night with headliner Bryan Hatt (has opened for legends like Gilbert Godfried, Harland Williams, Big Jay Oakerson) at TWH Social starting at 8 pm.

The DTK BIA x Good Co. Productions bring you another secret show at Volgelsang Green with Sunset Sessions at 7 pm.

Matt Lamers (of I, the Mountain) is playing at Stockyards Brewing from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.

Janis & Steve play Farm League Brewing at 7 pm.

The A Cappella End of Term Concert is happening at 7 pm at the Theatre of the Arts on the UW campus. There's a Saturday show too. Groups include The Water Boys, The Acabellas, ACE, and The Musical InterDudes, with guest performances from small groups.

Over at Morty's Pub, Gavin Coscarella (Comedy Store LA, Carolines NYC, Comedy Cellar NYC) headlines another edition of Rusty Nail Comedy at 8 pm.

Saturday, July 25

Stroll Walking Tours has a Secret Food Tour from 2 - 5 pm. It's somewhere in Cambridge, Kitchener or Waterloo… but you don’t know where until 48 hours before the tour! All new places we’ve never been before on a Stroll Food Tour.

UWaterloo Music has two concerts on Saturday:

First up, Jazz on a Summer Afternoon with UW Jazz Ensemble at 2:00pm in the Great Hall, Conrad Grebel University College, 140 Westmount Ave., Waterloo. Free admission.

Then the Instrumental Chamber Ensemble Concert performs at 7:30pm in the Chapel, Conrad Grebel University College, 140 Westmount Ave., Waterloo. Also free admission.

Candy Young & Jesse Cook are playing live at Midnight Run at 7 pm. Candy and Jesse are bringing you an evening of originals and covers accompanied by guitar and ukelele. 

Drop the beat, then drop into the wave pool at Bingeman's Night Rave Swim. Big Splash transforms into an all-ages EDM party after dark, with DJs spinning high-energy sets while you ride the slides, float the wave pool, and dance under the lights.  

The Boathouse transforms into a late-night haven for the dark and the dance-driven with Into the Void from 11 to 2 am (that's late) with goth, post-punk, dark wave, industrial, EBM, and metal. $10 cash at the door. 19+

Sunday, July 26

King Street in front of Kitchener’s City Hall is transforming into a pedestrian block for a week, filled with free activities, live entertainment, games, workshops, music, and more with King Street Unplugged. Wander, discover, support local businesses, and sit and stay awhile… and yes, it’s FREE to enjoy! Activities begin daily at 11 a.m.. Check the website for a list of daily activities.

The Boathouse has Pilates on the Patio from 10 to 12. Join Katey for a mat pilates class with a live DJ on the lakefront patio at The Boathouse, followed by a brunch social. 

Mike Gatto and friends will be spinning reggae, hip-hop, and R&B on the Arabella patio from 2 to 7 pm.

Waterloo Town Square turns into a Spanish fair with atmosphere, food, drink and music  at the Little KW Flamenco Fest on July 26. Performers include Fernando Gallego, David Sinclair, Joaquin Nuñez Hidalgo, and Makeda Benítez with resident performers Juneyt, Claudia, and Julian.  

Get outta my dreams, get into my car* at TWB Brewing's Classic Wheels, They're shutting down the parking lot and expanding the patio for their first Classic Car, Truck & Motorcycle show. Free admission. Kojo's Korner food pop-up starting at 1 pm. Live music by Echo Theory from 3-5 pm. *my car is a 2010 Honda Fit.

Sydney Jones is playing live folk/rock at the Roos Island Music Series at 7 pm.

Cool Aunt Creatives has a Punch Needle Pillows Workshop at Ernie's Roadhouse from 7 to 9 pm. Punch needle is a relaxing textile technique where yarn is looped through fabric to build soft, textured designs. It’s simple to learn, soothing to do, and incredibly satisfying — no prior crafting experience needed.
