Eating and drinking and working.

Our friends at Gilt in downtown are hosting their next Pop Up Shop - a "famous film foods" night - this Thursday. All ideas are welcome - think $5 milkshakes from "Pulp Fiction" or apple pie from "American Pie". Wait. Scratch that last one. If you click that link, you'll be taken to the Food in Waterloo Region Facebook group. It's full of local foodies and epicureans with the inside word on where to get the perfect biryani or for a new restaurant to try.

Monday night is DevHouse Waterloo #82. Programmers and designers share projects they're working on and Boltmade provides WiFi and snacks.

Looking to learn about local businesses in town? Each Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30, join #WRTalk on Twitter.

It's boxing practice for startups - The Winter 2016 Velocity Fund Finals are this Thursday, March 31st. Early stage companies pitch at 11am for three $5,000 prizes and the main event kicks off at 1pm for the four $25,000 prizes.

The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans will soon be a fixture on Victoria Street in downtown. Saw this tweet from @SmileTigerRoast over the weekend and the only people more excited than me would be the crew at Bridgit - who are also hiring right now, in case you're looking for something new.

What to do.

Elmira Maple Syrup Festival | Sat, April 2nd
When I moved to Waterloo, strangers would tell me about two things. First, they told me about this mythical place called "Concordia Club" and Oktoberfest. Then they would tell me about Elmira and the pancakes. The pancakes. My goodness, they are worth the wait. This Saturday is the world's largest single day maple syrup festival - if you've never gone, make this the weekend you right that wrong.

"Designed by Catherine Bischoff, this sturdy tote expresses pride in Kitchener's heritage and faith in its cosmopolitan future. It also holds a lot of groceries. $18."

KW Tech Euchre Tournament | Tues, April 12 | Netsuite Waterloo
55 King Street West, Suite 900, Kitchener

Good news - Netsuite is hosting the first KW Tech Euchre Tournament. Bad news - they've already and filled all the seats - so only waiting list spots are available. Seriously - I did not know that many people played euchre. I need to learn how to play.
