What to do.
Before you miss it, Beer + Beyonce is back at THEMUSEUM this Wednesday, June 6. If you liked it, you should have put a calendar reminder on it.
Summer means block parties - and the block that rocks in DTK is Ontario Street. Head downtown this Tuesday, June 5 for the first #OntarioSt Block Party. There will be plethora of activities, including, but not limited to a double dutch competition, board games from The Adventurers Guild - Board Game Café & Tavern. Popcorn from Apollo Cinema, candy stand from CANDY, CANDY, CANDY, DJ sets...
<Record scratch>
Wait? CANDY, CANDY, CANDY is back in pop-up form? Sweet mercy. DTK has had a gaping hole in its heart since that store closed and I look upon its return as a sign of good forture.
<Back to newletter>
Once the sun starts to set, grab some popcorn provided by Apollo Cinema, an outrageous poutine from The Crazy Canuck, a $10 bucket of chicken from The Grand Trunk Saloon or some sweets and head to Goudies Lane for a free outdoor movie screening!

Green Light Arts presents 7th Cousins. It's about two cousins (Erin Brubacher and Christine Brubaker) who walked from Pennsylvania to Waterloo. The play is the theatrical creation that was born out of the stories, people, and experiences they encountered on their journey. Audiences control how part of the story is told as they get to choose from over 700 pictures Erin and Christine took on the journey. The play is a fun, warm exploration of how we make meaning with others. June 8-10 | Friday 8pm, Saturday 4pm + 8pm, Sunday 2pm.
E Graphics Group and IM@Events are hosting an open house this Friday, June 8 from 7-11pm. Features craft beer and wine bar, complimentary snacks and a photography and art show. Party like it’s 1999 and come dressed as your favourite rockstar. Everyone is welcome, but space is limited so reserve your spot.
This Saturday, June 9 is the annual Summer Lights Festival in downtown Kitchener - from 8pm to 1am. There are five hubs of activities - here's a couple we'd go to:
There's Cuban music and dancing at the Garment Street Hub (King Street from Francis to College).
Rebekah Stevens will take over the stage at 9pm between King Street from Water to College.
My friends Jeff and Lisa are getting married at the Share The Love hub (City Hall) at 9pm. True story.
There's open improv from 9-11pm along Young Street. Give me a place, a Sesame Street muppet and an evil entity from a Stephen King novel.
