On Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 7 PM, THEMUSEUM hosts Documenting Downtown Change - a photo-voice exhibition that shares moments in a changing downtown Kitchener through the eyes of community members. Hear from the team behind the project as they lead a community discussion on what downtown change means to you and how social media plays a role in this change.
In partnership with Open Sesame's exhibition of local artist Catherine Mellinger’s collages from the book "Deep Salt Water" (BookThug, 2017), NightShift 2017 kicks off its 5th-anniversary installment with a free collage party. Mellinger, an expressive arts therapist and facilitator at institutions such as the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, will supply guidance plus visual materials for festival-goers to MYO artworks and buttons. Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7 PM.

It's a rap battle meets open mic with a dash of Shakespeare in the Park. Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre presents their next installment of Battle of the Bards. Every Battle of the Bards, they look for six to eight performers to show their stuff in front of their AAA-rated audience. Friday, Nov. 3 starting at 8 PM.
There'll also be live music makers there to help get your creative juices flowing, including the majestic drone-weaver Castle If.
On Nov. 6, join the Kitchener Public Library for an evening that examines how we view conflict through photography in the post 9/11 era with award-winning documentary photographer Louie Palu. Louie will be sharing insights into his new book Front Towards Enemy which is the result of covering the frontline for 5-years in Afghanistan, his short film Road Through War, which is a journey along the frontlines in Ukraine and his 10 year long project exploring Washington DC from 2007-2017 as a view of the American home front during the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Monday, Nov. 6 at 7 PM.
