Friends of the newsletter Natalie Herzing and Kevin Ryrie are bartending at the Grand Trunk Saloon tonight, Monday, July 17 starting at 6pm. It's part of their ongoing guest bartender series.
The Sun Life Financial Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival is this weekend - running Friday, July 21 to Sunday, July 23. They're celebrating 25 years of bringing some of the world's best jazz musicians to Waterloo. It's a free festival and they even a bicycle valet this year.
Get your mid-week live music fix at Maxwell's Music House on Wednesday, July 19. Taking the stage - Northlane + INTERVALS with special guests Invent Animate and My Dear Malice. Doors open at 7:00pm, music starts at 7:30pm. $20 in advance.
Also on Wednesday, the KW Poker Chicks have their next game at the offices of Sortable in downtown Kitchener. They're always looking for new members - but cap the games at thirty people.
Music or poker not your thing? You're making this difficult. How about improv? Yes. Improve. That's the ticket. Green Light Arts will walk you through interactive activities and games to foster those inner actors. Feeling shy and don't want to perform? No worries! Great theatre always needs an audience. There are two sessions on Wednesday, July 19: 6-7pm and 7-8pm - both happening at the Waterloo Public Library.
If none of these work for you - let's just go with Abe Erb presents Beer Wars 2017 at their location in the Tannery in downtown Kitchener. Elora Brewing, Block Three, Innocente and Descendants battle it out for the title of Best American Pale Ale (Single Hop) in Waterloo Region.
Moving on to Thursday. Nick and Nat's Uptown 21 presents Beef and Brown Liquor on Thursday, July 20. It's five courses centered around beef, local, charred, raw, dry aged and down right burnt. Paired with brown liquors and cocktails and a sermon from their local Lord of the drink. $80 per head. 7pm start time.
Friday is the aptly named ONtour event in downtown Kitchener. The Government of Ontario brings you Glass Tiger and Big Wreck - live at Carl Zehr square starting at 6pm.
Wake up Saturday and head back downtown for the Rock & Rumble and Epic Food Truck Rally on Saturday, July 22. Motorcycles, food trucks and Platinum Blonde on the main stage. Well, there's only one stage. But it's big.

The Berlin Bicycle Cafe's next open mic night is Thursday, July 20. Signups at 7pm, music starts 7.30pm. Your MC for the night is Candy Young.

Freshii Waterloo and Smile Tiger Coffee are partnering up in a new location in uptown Waterloo. If you subsist off coffee and smoothies like I do, then this is good news.
