Who to hear.


It's always great when people visit town and share their experiences with us. CAFKA (Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area) and Musagetes are hosting Kimberly Drew as their next speaker in the Big Ideas in Art and Culture lecture series. Her talk will be at the Walper Hotel on Saturday, June 3 at 7 PM. Admission is free.

Kimberly Drew is the social media manager for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. She is the creator of the popular Tumblr blog “Black Contemporary Art,” a go-to source for news and work by black artists, and of the internationally recognized Instagram @museummammy, which boasts 100,000 followers. A curator and organizer, her work focuses on bringing attention to black figures and voices in contemporary art.

Open Sesame is thrilled to welcome Vancouver-based musician Ora Cogan on Tuesday May 23 at 7pm. Cogan combines the intricate guitar picking of Americana with grunge and psychedelic dreamscapes —earning comparisons to Karen Dalton and John Martyn (The Wire), Angel Olsen, and other legends—is on tour as she prepares to release her new LP "Crickets" this October.

Celebrate with tri-Pride at King Bowling on Wednesday, May 24 starting at 6pm. $20 per person includes two hours of bowling, shoe rental and appetizers.

The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony invites you to join them for Edwin Outwater’s final concert as Music Director on Friday, May 26 at 8pm. Featuring the Grand Philharmonic Choir, John Adams’ Harmonium is a stunning choral setting of Emily Dickinson’s poetry. Like our Music Director, Mahler’s First Symphony both embraces the past and looks boldly and brightly towards the future.



Saturday night's all right ofr the Tri-City Roller Derby versus Border City Roller Derby. Saturday, May 27 at 4pm.

Nick and Nat's Uptown 21 has an interactive evening of food and drink from regions all over the world. Each month a new destination with new tastes to try! This month is Cajamarca, Peru on Friday, May 26 at 7pm. $75 per person, 5 courses.

Move from little wheels to big wheel's at the Kitchener BikeFest on Sunday, May 28 starting at 11. BikeFest, presented by BikeKitchener and Cycle for Angels, is a community festival which celebrates the power of the simple bicycle and its role in positively transforming our health, environment, and community. This year's events include a bike draw, kids’ bike rodeo, safety check-overs, prizes & giveaways.

Close out the week with The Walper Hotel's Laughter & Lager night on Sunday, May 28 starting at 7pm. The Walper Hotel invites you to join the 2nd event in our Industry Series: Laughter & Lager. It's hours of entertainment and drinks, starting with five craft beer breweries occupying The Lokal, their second floor cocktail bar. Enjoy your favourite local craft beer while you have your mind blown by David Storm, Master Mentalist & Magician, mixing, mingling and performing from 7-9pm. Then, sit back and get ready for some laughter with your lager as Blackball Comedy puts its most ridiculous, brazen, & hilarious comedians on stage from 9-11pm.
