Where to park.

Don't let a little construction, metal fencing and parking lot paving get between you and Taco Farm or White Rabbit. (Okay, a LOT of all of that.)

The City of Waterloo has got you covered with additional parking options as the north parking lot at Waterloo Town Square gets all prettied up with some new pavement.

What to buy local.

In a slight break from normal content, check out these two products that your neighbours have designed, built and launched to the world.

Alert Labs launched their home water sensors late last year. Their system is best described as a Fitbit for your home water system. They have two products available now - Flowie, which monitors for leaks abnormal usage and Floodie, a reusable puck that you can place in your basement to detect flooding. Their whole system is battery powered and works using low-power cellular connections - so if the power goes out, you're still protected.

Last week, Waterloo-based Cognitive Systems shipped their Aura Home Security system. Aura is a camera-less security system that detects movement inside and outside your home by detecting when physical objects interrupt the movement of wireless signals. They've got an awesome explainer video that shows you how they do it.

What to do.
